Deck Strategy
Weezing + Scolipede
This deck revolves around poison, a sneaky yet highly effective strategy to wear down opponents. Thanks to abilities like Gas Leak from Weezing and attacks like Venoshock from Scolipede, the deck maximizes the poison status condition to deal significant damage. The main goal is to keep the opponent’s Pokémon consistently poisoned, making every move harder and riskier for them.
Koga + Weezing
The combo between Weezing and Koga forms the backbone of this strategy. Start by setting up Weezing as your attacker and use its ability to poison the opponent’s active Pokémon. Meanwhile, prepare Scolipede on the bench. Use Koga to retreat Weezing and bring out Scolipede, whose Venoshock attack will deal boosted damage to the poisoned Pokémon. Even if the opponent survives the attack, the poison will continue to chip away at its HP.
Tauros
Tauros is an excellent resource to counter EX Pokémon that could otherwise trouble this deck. Its ability to deal extra damage against EX makes it a solid backup option.
Other Possible Cards
In particularly challenging situations against EX Pokémon like Charizard EX, Mew EX proves to be an excellent alternative. Although slower than Tauros, Mew EX can provide a solution to problematic opponents thanks to its three-colorless-energy move Genome Hacking, which allows it to copy other Pokémon’s attacks. If decks with resilient EX Pokémon are giving you trouble, consider replacing one copy of Tauros with Mew EX to enhance your deck’s flexibility.
