Deck Strategy
Pikachu EX: Aggressive Strategy
Pikachu EX is an aggressive deck focused on dealing rapid damage. Its ability allows it to deal damage based on the number of Electric-type Pokémon on the bench, easily reaching 90 damage with just two energies. As a basic Pokémon, it can be searched with support cards like Poké Ball and quickly put into play, eliminating opposing Pokémon before they can evolve.
Zapdos EX
The deck struggles against sturdy Pokémon like Venusaur EX or Machamp EX. In these situations, Zapdos EX becomes crucial, thanks to its powerful Thundering Hurricane attack.
Zebstrika + Giovanni
Zebstrika is perfect for taking out benched Pokémon with low HP. The Zebstrika + Giovanni combo is excellent for destroying enemy Fossils, dealing 40 damage, and preventing dangerous combos like those from a Kabuto deck.
Pinkurchin
Pinkurchin provides defensive support, with the chance to paralyze the opponent through a coin flip. This buys time to set up a decisive attack with Pikachu EX or, if needed, with Zapdos EX.
Other Possible Cards
If you don’t have Zebstrika, you can replace it with Electrode, using Voltorb instead of Blitzle as the basic Pokémon. Electrode has similar HP to Zebstrika but offers different support. While Electrode deals more damage, it can’t attack benched Pokémon. Its true advantage lies in having no retreat cost, allowing you to speed up combos. You can play it early on and retreat it easily when your combo is ready, without spending energy or risking a KO.
Red Card is an excellent support card against slow decks with bulky Pokémon like Charizard EX or Venusaur EX, which are often counters to the Pikachu EX deck. It can replace a Potion or Giovanni, by adding a single copy of Red Card. It’s not advisable to include two copies, unless you frequently face slow decks like Venusaur ex or Charizard EX, where Red Card can be an effective counter. However, against aggressive decks, Red Card may often prove to be less useful.
