Deck Strategy
Mewtwo EX Energy Rush Deck
The Mewtwo EX Energy Rush Deck is designed to harness the offensive power of Mewtwo EX, supported by the efficient Psychic Energy generation provided by Gardevoir.
The main strategy of the deck is to quickly evolve Ralts into Gardevoir to take advantage of its ability, which allows you to attach Psychic Energy to the active Pokémon directly from the bench. This enables Mewtwo EX to attack each turn with its powerful 150 damage attack without worrying about the loss of Energy, thanks to the continuous supply provided by Gardevoir.
Mewtwo
The basic version of Mewtwo is an excellent addition to this deck. As a Basic Pokémon with 120 HP, Mewtwo is sturdy enough to withstand opponent attacks and buy you time while you set up the main combo (Gardevoir + Mewtwo EX).
Additionally, its presence provides solid defense against cards like Red Card, as you can use it as the active Pokémon without sacrificing critical resources like Gardevoir.
Poké Ball
The Poké Ball card is an excellent support for this deck. Since your strategy relies on a limited pool of Pokémon (mainly Mewtwo ex and the Ralts evolution line), Poké Ball significantly increases the chances of quickly drawing Mewtwo EX, speeding up the combo and keeping constant pressure on the opponent.
Other Possible Cards
Jynx is particularly effective against decks that require a lot of Energy to set up their combos, such as Charizard EX or Blastoise EX. Its move, which costs only 2 Energy, deals 30 base damage plus 20 additional damage for each Energy attached to the opponent’s active Pokémon. This makes it an excellent choice for countering decks that can dominate the game once fully developed.
Jynx can replace Mewtwo in your deck, but keep in mind that these two Pokémon serve different purposes. Mewtwo acts as a tank, helping you buy time to set up your main combo (Gardevoir + Mewtwo EX), while Jynx excels at shutting down opponents’ Pokémon that rely on high-energy combos.
Kangaskhan is a basic Pokémon that can serve as a substitute for Mewtwo in your deck. Although it has 30 fewer HP (100 compared to Mewtwo’s 130), it’s a strong card that can be played immediately, giving you time to set up your main combo (Gardevoir + Mewtwo EX).
Its move, Dizzy Punch, allows you to flip two coins, dealing 30 damage for each “heads.” This gives Kangaskhan the potential to deal up to 60 damage as early as the first turn. While it’s not a move you can rely on consistently, it can be highly effective in knocking out the opponent’s basic Pokémon and speeding up the pace of the match.
Red Card is a powerful support card that disrupts opponents relying on slow, combo-heavy decks like Charizard EX or Mewtwo EX. By forcing your opponent to shuffle their hand and draw only four cards, it can significantly delay their setup. If you’re facing decks that depend on time and resources to build combos, consider swapping in Red Card for a Giovanni or a Potion. However, if you’re frequently up against fast-paced, aggressive decks like Pikachu EX Aggro, Red Card may not be as effective and can be left out.
