Deck Strategy

Charizard EX

The Charizard EX deck is a slow but devastating combo strategy, designed to dominate once set up. The move Crimson Storm deals 200 damage with 4 Energies, capable of taking down even the toughest Pokémon. However, after each attack, you must discard 2 Energies from Charizard EX. The key to this deck is preparing your Charizard EX by building up resources to unleash its incredible offensive potential.

Moltres EX

Moltres EX is the perfect partner to speed up Charizard EX’s setup. As a basic Pokémon, it can be played right away and used in the early turns to accelerate your strategy. With its 1 Energy move Flame Charge, Moltres EX allows you to flip three coins: for each heads, you can attach a Fire Energy to a benched Pokémon. This enables you to quickly power up Charmander as you evolve it into Charizard EX. To maximize Charizard EX’s impact, aim to have 5 Energies attached before attacking. This way, you can attack twice in a row, dealing devastating damage.

Hand Scope + Red Card

The combination of Hand Scope and Red Card allows you to control the tempo of the game. Hand Scope reveals your opponent’s hand, giving you a strategic advantage by anticipating their moves. Red Card, on the other hand, forces your opponent to shuffle their hand back into their deck and draw only 3 cards. Together, these two cards can effectively disrupt your opponent’s combos, making them particularly frustrating for combo-reliant decks.

Other Possible Cards

If aggro decks are frequently giving you trouble, consider adding 2 Ponyta and 2 Rapidash in place of 2 Hand Scope and 2 Red Card. This will make your deck less control-oriented but more flexible. Rapidash, the evolution of Ponyta, provides excellent support with its 100 HP and 40 damage at a low energy cost, helping you buy time and handle threats in the early turns.
